Access to the lot is on the stadium&#8217;s west side, off Stadium Drive. Wheelchair users should park in Lot G for the easiest access to the wheelchair seating area at the stadium. Visitors who are dropping off a wheelchair user can do so before continuing to the general parking area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wheelchairs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wheelchairs will be available at each entrance of the stadium. A volunteer will be at the entrances to transport persons using a wheelchair to the accessible seating area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seating and Live Stream<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reservations for seating are not available. Accessible seating for visitors, family, and friends at the Commencement Ceremony will be located behind the graduates toward the center of the stadium. There will be signage indicating where to find accessible seating. If you do not need accessible seating, please sit in the general seating area.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ceremony will be live-streamed with captions on a large screen in the Werner University Center (WUC) in the Willamette room on the 2nd floor. Additional seating will be available in the Willamette room on the 1st floor if needed. Seating is available for the individual who needs it and one additional person with them. A student graduates from WOU after applying to graduate and after the Office of the Registrar determines that all university academic requirements have been met. Students may graduate at the end of any academic term. Diplomas are mailed each term to fully graduated students.<\/p>\n<p>Commencement is WOU\u2019s annual ceremony in June that recognizes graduates and those close to completing their degree. Those that attend commencement will have their names called at the ceremony and they will walk across the stage to receive a diploma cover.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not all students who graduate choose to participate in Commencement and not all students that participate in Commencement graduate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=&#8221;What do the different honors levels mean?&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; open=&#8221;off&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The faculty at WOU recognizes scholarship by conferring honors distinction on undergraduate students who have completed at least 45 credit hours through WOU and earned a cumulative WOU grade-point average of 3.50 or higher as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cum Laude: 3.50-3.64<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Magna Cum Laude: 3.65-3.79<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Summa Cum Laude: 3.80-4.00<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All grade-point averages used for commencement are calculated at the conclusion of the previous winter term. [endsection] <span>[section=What if I prefer to watch the ceremony indoors instead?]<\/span> People who prefer to watch the ceremony indoors can view a live feed in the New PE building across Church Street from the stadium or in the Columbia\u00a0room of the Werner University Center, located east of the stadium on Church Street. Seating in New PE is on stadium bleachers. Seating in the Columbia room will be chairs setup in a conference style. In both locations the ceremony will be shown on a large screen with captions. [endsection] <span>[section=What should I wear or bring to the graduation ceremony?]<\/span> Most people wear nice clothes to the ceremony, but the most important thing is to make sure to dress for the weather. The Mid-Willamette Valley is known for its changing weather, so be prepared for rain, intense sun, chilly temperatures or heat. Only part of the stadium is covered, and the structure faces east, so the seating areas may get direct morning sunlight. Depending on the forecast, consider bringing a warm coat, a light jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, an umbrella (for before ceremony), water, a seat back and any other tool that will help keep you comfortable throughout the event. [endsection] <span>[section=Where are the restrooms in the stadium?]<\/span> Women\u2019s restrooms are on the south side of the stadium. Men\u2019s restrooms are on the north end. Both facilities include a wheelchair-accessible stall. [endsection] <span>[section=Is there wheelchair seating in the stadium?]<\/span> Wheelchair-accessible seating for the ceremony will be located toward the south side of the stadium closest to Jackson Street. Wheelchair users should park on the south end of Lot G closest to the seating area. [endsection] <span>[section=Can I livestream the ceremony?]<\/span> Yes. It is available at <a href=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/livestream\">https:\/\/wou.edu\/livestream<\/a> [endsection] <span>[section=Is there food or drink available at the stadium?]<\/span> Students from the Alternative Break Program sell food and water at the stadium as fundraisers for their organizations. Please make sure to properly dispose of all trash and recyclables. [endsection] <span>[section=Is there first aid or medical personnel at the stadium?]<\/span> Yes. Public Safety Officers will be on the ceremony grounds before, during and after the ceremony. The office is located on Stadium Drive. [endsection] <span>[section=Can I bring signs to the stadium? What things are prohibited on campus?]<\/span> There are no rules prohibiting signs, but guests should be courteous to people around them when holding the signs aloft. Do not block other audience members\u2019 views. The following items are not allowed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tobacco products, including smokeless tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping<\/li>\n<li>Firearms or weapons of any sort<\/li>\n<li>Air horns and other excessive noisemakers<\/li>\n<li>Pets, with the exception of service animals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[endsection] <span>[section=Can I stand near the stage to photograph or video my graduate coming down?]<\/span> Family and friends may take photos and videos, but we do ask that you be courteous to other audience members if you choose to do so, however an official photographer takes each graduate\u2019s photo during the ceremony and prints are available for a nominal fee. [endsection] <span>[section=Can I leave the commencement ceremony after my graduate receives a diploma?]<\/span> Out of respect for all participants and the solemnity of the occasion, guests are asked to stay for the entire ceremony<em>.<\/em> [endsection] <span>[section=Who can attend the commencement reception?]<\/span> President Fuller and the WOU faculty and staff invite all graduates and their guests to the commencement reception immediately after the ceremony. [endsection] <span>[section=Where is the commencement reception, and what happens if it rains?]<\/span> The Grove is an outside area located across the street from the stadium and east of the New PE building on Church Street. In the event of inclement weather, the reception will be moved to the Pacific Room in the lower level of the Werner University Center, which is right next to The Grove. Depending on the forecast, consider bringing a warm coat, a light jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, an umbrella (for before ceremony), water, a seat back and any other tool that will help keep you comfortable throughout the event. [endsection] <span>[section=What if I prefer to watch the ceremony indoors instead?]<\/span> People who prefer to watch the ceremony indoors can view a live feed in the New PE building across Church Street from the stadium or in the Columbia\u00a0room of the Werner University Center, located east of the stadium on Church Street. Seating in New PE is on stadium bleachers. Seating in the Columbia room will be chairs setup in a conference style. In both locations the ceremony will be shown on a large screen with captions. [endsection] <span>[section=What should I wear or bring to the graduation ceremony?]<\/span> Most people wear nice clothes to the ceremony, but the most important thing is to make sure to dress for the weather. The Mid-Willamette Valley is known for its changing weather, so be prepared for rain, intense sun, chilly temperatures or heat. Only part of the stadium is covered, and the structure faces east, so the seating areas may get direct morning sunlight. Depending on the forecast, consider bringing a warm coat, a light jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, an umbrella (for before ceremony), water, a seat back and any other tool that will help keep you comfortable throughout the event. [endsection] <span>[section=Where are the restrooms in the stadium?]<\/span> Women\u2019s restrooms are on the south side of the stadium. Men\u2019s restrooms are on the north end. Both facilities include a wheelchair-accessible stall. [endsection] <span>[section=Is there wheelchair seating in the stadium?]<\/span> Wheelchair-accessible seating for the ceremony will be located toward the south side of the stadium closest to Jackson Street. Wheelchair users should park on the south end of Lot G closest to the seating area. [endsection] <span>[section=Can I livestream the ceremony?]<\/span> Yes. It is available at <a href=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/livestream\">https:\/\/wou.edu\/livestream<\/a> [endsection] <span>[section=Is there food or drink available at the stadium?]<\/span> Students from the Alternative Break Program sell food and water at the stadium as fundraisers for their organizations. Please make sure to properly dispose of all trash and recyclables. [endsection] <span>[section=Is there first aid or medical personnel at the stadium?]<\/span> Yes. Public Safety Officers will be on the ceremony grounds before, during and after the ceremony. The office is located on Stadium Drive. [endsection] <span>[section=Can I bring signs to the stadium? What things are prohibited on campus?]<\/span> There are no rules prohibiting signs, but guests should be courteous to people around them when holding the signs aloft. Do not block other audience members\u2019 views. The following items are not allowed:\n<ul>\n \t<li>Tobacco products, including smokeless tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping<\/li>\n \t<li>Firearms or weapons of any sort<\/li>\n \t<li>Air horns and other excessive noisemakers<\/li>\n \t<li>Pets, with the exception of service animals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[endsection] <span>[section=Can I stand near the stage to photograph or video my graduate coming down?]<\/span> Family and friends may take photos and videos, but we do ask that you be courteous to other audience members if you choose to do so, however an official photographer takes each graduate\u2019s photo during the ceremony and prints are available for a nominal fee. [endsection] <span>[section=Can I leave the commencement ceremony after my graduate receives a diploma?]<\/span> Out of respect for all participants and the solemnity of the occasion, guests are asked to stay for the entire ceremony<em>.<\/em> [endsection] <span>[section=Who can attend the commencement reception?]<\/span> President Fuller and the WOU faculty and staff invite all graduates and their guests to the commencement reception immediately after the ceremony. [endsection] <span>[section=Where is the commencement reception, and what happens if it rains?]<\/span> The Grove is an outside area located across the street from the stadium and east of the New PE building on Church Street. In the event of inclement weather, the reception will be moved to the Pacific Room in the lower level of the Werner University Center, which is right next to The Grove. [endsection] <span>[section=Where can I get official WOU gear to show my support?]<\/span>\n<div>The ÀÖ²¥ÊÓÆµ bookstore in the Werner University Center will be open from <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.<\/span><\/span> on the day of Commencement. It contains a variety of workout equipment, including an indoor running track. Use of the outdoor track is prohibited on Commencement day.
