This program was created to help students with career readiness through hands on experience. The division is accepting applications via Handshake through March 1, 2022 for the following four paid internships for Spring term 2022.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;Capital Planning &amp; Construction Internship&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.14.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Department: <\/strong>Capital Planning and Construction (CPC)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work Schedule: <\/strong>Determined with Supervisor<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours Per Week: <\/strong>10 Hours (approximately)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wage\/Salary: <\/strong>$15.00 \/ hr<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start Date: <\/strong>April 1, 2022<\/p>\n<p><strong>End Date: <\/strong>June 3, 2022<\/p>\n<p><strong>Department Description: <\/strong>CPC provides ongoing management support of construction\/renovation\/maintenance projects representing the interests of the University including providing directions to architects, engineers, contractors and project managers, implementation of budget controls, project bid-ability, construct-ability, bid specifications, change orders, administration of various contracts, management of the inspections, and other project management requirements during the preliminary planning, documentation bidding, and construction phases of various small or large projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning Objectives: <\/strong>As a result of this internship, the intern will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify best practices for project management of ÀÖ²¥ÊÓÆµ\u2019s campus capital projects.<\/li>\n<li>Understand basic principles for organizing and documenting project related information.<\/li>\n<li>Describe effective project management methods.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate project goals, timelines, and daily tasks to determine work priorities<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication with students, University faculty and staff, and community partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Learning Activities: <\/strong>The intern will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in CPC and Customer project meetings<\/li>\n<li>Directly collect and document Campus Building Inventory.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the creation of Campus Standard for Construction Project.<\/li>\n<li>Help maintain and update the CPC webpage.<\/li>\n<li>Learn how to track and document project invoices.<\/li>\n<li>Develop personal and professional development goals<\/li>\n<li>Meet weekly with supervisor to reflect on development goals and outline project tasks and priorities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passion for helping students<\/li>\n<li>Desire to learn and grow<\/li>\n<li>Good interpersonal communication skills and a friendly demeanor<\/li>\n<li>Ability to think creatively<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated and willing to take initiative<\/li>\n<li>Flexible schedule<\/li>\n<li>Experience with MS Office and Google Suites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interest in higher education planning and construction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Majors\/Minors Desired: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Open to all majors<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work schedule: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Approximately 10 hours a week. The operation of the office directly affects each of the institution\u2019s employees, students, suppliers, student sponsors, employees of other state agencies, and members of the public. The office\u2019s operations are vital to the independent operation of the campus. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Budget &amp; Planning Office: This department provides support to the university by assisting with annual and multi-year budget planning and management of campus budgets, with the mission to inform critical decision-making and ensure sound stewardship of institutional resources. Our goal is to have a transparent and collaborative budget process that is data-driven, equitable, and 100% aligned with institutional priorities.
