I love working with students to help them transition into their next steps in life and I am excited to be at Western Oregon to provide students with the help and resources to get them moving into the direction of a career or a life-long passion.<\/p>\n

I earned a bachelor’s in Liberal Studies from Oregon State University, my master’s degree from Kansas State University in Academic Advising and my Ph.D. in Leadership in Academic Advising from Kansas State. I am also an avid birder and I love spending time with my two kids and my menagerie of pets in my free time.<\/p>\n

My favorite part of my work is watching students’ growth from their early years in college to seeing their successes and resulting confidence that takes them into their next phase of life after Commencement.<\/p>\n

My ideal job would be a dahlia farmer, but I also love rocks, traveling, hiking, sewing, theatre, symphony, reading, and serving as life’s adventure “cruise director” with my family and menagerie of 3 goats, 6 <\/span>5 chickens, 2 dogs, and 2.5 cats.\u00a0 But I really love rocks.<\/p>\n

I got my degree in Elementary Education and Interdisciplinary Studies (too many classes for just one degree). When I was in college, I wanted to teach 4th grade, but have truly found that just teaching and educating inspires me; it doesn’t have to be grade specific.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My ideal day-to-day is helping others grow into the best version of themseves that they can be. Having been a Kindergarten teacher, I could witness this daily, and then it would change by the end of the week. However, with college students now, I get to see the growth in addition to seeing their vision of the future and helping them map out how to get there. It’s an amazing thing to watch someone learn how special they truly are.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Something I’m proud of is this being my last year of college. I remember, back when I graduated high school, I made it a priority to further my education, despite having some setbacks. Something interesting about me is that I love to surf. Mainly boogie boarding and body surfing, but it feels great whenever I’m in the water. I’m still deciding what my “ideal job” would be, but I know the Center for Professional Pathways can guide me in the right direction.<\/p>\n
