Camarillo and Pettenger and supported by the Office of the Provost brought two former Representatives from the US Congress to WOU through the nationally-recognized Congress to Campus program. The goal of the events were to educate about how the US Congress functions, promote bipartisanship, and discuss the value of public service. Across three days of activities, the event reached an estimated 250 students across various disciplines and groups. Our campus received high praise from the visiting representatives, who said the event was the most well-organized event they had ever participated in and expressed how much they enjoyed talking with our students, from faculty who participated with their classes, and most importantly from students, one of whom stated “Not only did [CTC] give all of us a great opportunity, but it was something our campus will remember forever”.

On February 11-13, 2020, the Department of Politics, Policy, and Administration brought former U.S. House Representatives Nick Lampson (D-TX) and Rod Chandler (R-WA) to WOU to: educate about how the US Congress functions, promote bipartisanship, and discuss the value of public service.
