The Office of Clinical Practice and Licensure coordinates student teaching placements, assists with the licensure process, and provides ongoing support and up-to-date information throughout the clinical teaching experience.<\/p>\n

The clinical teaching experience<\/h2>\n

The clinical teaching experience, also known as student teaching is a year-long, university-supervised, classroom experience that takes place during the final year. Students become eligible for a clinical placement upon acceptance to the professional licensure program.<\/p>\n

Each year, we coordinate the placement of more than 250 Teacher Candidates in 30 Oregon school districts.<\/p>\n

Who is involved in the clinical teaching experience?<\/h3>\n

\n
• Teacher Candidate:<\/strong> The student in the professional licensure program completing their clinical teaching experience. Sometimes called the student teacher or preservice teacher.<\/li>\n
• Cooperating Teacher:<\/strong> The experienced teacher sharing their classroom with the Teacher Candidate. Sometimes called the supervising teacher, mentor teacher, or clinical teacher.<\/li>\n
• University Supervisor:<\/strong> The person responsible for supporting both the Teacher Candidate and the Cooperating Teacher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                        The COE's Office of Clinical Practice & Licensure<\/h5>\r\nThe Office of Clinical Practice & Licensure has a two-fold mission to serve the students of both our undergraduate and graduate teacher licensure, endorsement, specialization and certificate programs.\r\n\r\n\u00a0\r\n

                                        Teacher Licensure<\/h5>\r\nThe Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission requires certain tests be completed as part of most programs.\u00a0Our office monitors current standards and testing requirements carefully to keep our faculty and students informed and on track. Careful attention to the deadlines associated with these tests is needed to ensure that your application to the program is complete. In order to support our students in this endeavor, the CPL office maintains a complete list of these tests, as well as helping coordinate test preparation opportunities to promote student success.\r\n
