  {"id":11479,"date":"2019-11-28T02:36:16","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T10:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernhowl\/?p=11479"},"modified":"2019-11-28T02:36:16","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T10:36:16","slug":"dig-a-little-deeper-womens-volleyball-take-home-win-to-conclude-their-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernhowl\/dig-a-little-deeper-womens-volleyball-take-home-win-to-conclude-their-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Dig a little deeper, Women\u2019s Volleyball take home win to conclude their season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><strong>Hannah Greene\u00a0<\/strong> |\u00a0 Sports Editor<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last week, Nov. 19 and 21, the Women\u2019s Volleyball team played in their final games of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Wolves started by playing against Concordia University \u2014 a team that beat them previously in season on Sept. 17.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Western\u2019s only offense depended on their hitting, their percentage one of the best this season. During the first set, the Wolves gained a lead but fell shortly after, and the Cavaliers took the lead and carried it throughout the rest of that set.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Although the Wolves lost, there were multiple pivoting points throughout the match that gave the Cavaliers a run for their money.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The second set saw the Wolves hold the Cavaliers \u2014 until the Cavaliers broke out and scored 8 of the 10 points. Western had a hard time scoring due to Concordia\u2019s strong defensive wall that continued to challenge the Wolves throughout the game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Highlight player for the Wolves was Sianna DeCarli, a junior outside hitter, who had 11 kills \u2014 an attack by a player that is not returned by the receiving opponent, which leads directly to a point \u2014 the only Wolf that night to get more than four kills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The second game was a sweet sendoff for the Wolves\u2019 only senior player, Allyson Crisp.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Western took on Montana State University Billings on Nov. 21 for the Wolves\u2019 senior game, and final game of their 2019 season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Not only did this game end the Wolves\u2019s season with a win, it sent their senior player, Crisp, to the Western Oregon record books.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The first set the Yellowjackets took the win, but not without the Wolves making a great comeback.
