{"id":4988,"date":"2017-02-07T18:27:44","date_gmt":"2017-02-08T02:27:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wou.edu\/westernjournal\/?p=4988"},"modified":"2017-02-07T18:27:55","modified_gmt":"2017-02-08T02:27:55","slug":"record-setting-weekend-indoor-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernhowl\/record-setting-weekend-indoor-track\/","title":{"rendered":"Record-setting weekend for indoor track"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>By: Burke De Boer\r\nSports Editor<\/pre>\n<p>The Wolves track and field team was named the GNAC team of the week after an incredible showing at the University of Washington Invitational.<\/p>\n<p>The indoor track event saw Western Oregon break two conference records and five school <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernjournal\/files\/2017\/01\/ribich-300x175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5139 alignleft\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernhowl\/files\/2017\/01\/ribich-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wou.edu\/westernhowl\/files\/2017\/01\/ribich.jpg 765w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>records.<\/p>\n<p>Junior distance runner David Ribich ran a mile in 4:02.30 to set a new record for both the school and the conference. It\u2019s also this year\u2019s first NCAA automatic qualifier coming out of the conference and stands as the fastest time in all of Division II so far.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy Rufener then finished the 5,000 meter race in 17:24.07, a new school record. Her time currently leads the GNAC.<\/p>\n<p>School records were set in both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s distance medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>First-year sprinter Grayson Burke arrived with a flash, joining the veteran 4&#215;400 meter relay team to set the fifth team record.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Suzanne Van De Grift was involved in both the distance medley relay and the 4&#215;400 meter relay teams to get into the record books twice.
