Politics, Policy and Administration Scholarship

This scholarship is intended to honor exceptional Public Policy & Administration or Political Science majors who are highly motivated, dedicated toÌýpublicÌýservice, and strongly considering a career inÌýthe public or nonprofit sectors. This scholarship is designed to reward students who have shown exceptional abilities in managing all academic requirements as well as community activities.

Award Amount: $1,000

·¡±ô¾±²µ¾±²ú¾±±ô¾±³Ù²â:ÌýJunior or senior standing; returning to WOU next academic year; declared major inÌýeitherÌýPolitical Science or Public Policy & Administration; GPA of 3.3 or higher.

Application Materials:
  • Name, WOU V#, mailing address, phone number, and email address
  • Unofficial copy of your WOU transcript
  • Personal essay: two-page (about 500 words), double-spaced essay discussing: 1)Ìýyour academic and career ambitions/interests in politics, governance, or public service, and how your Political Science or Public Policy & Administration Major has helped you in the pursuit of those interests; and 2)Ìýhow the scholarship would aid in these endeavors.
  • Résumé that includes: work history, campus and off-campus activities and service (e.g., WOU club membership, athletics, positions held at WOU or in the community, awards received, etc.) during your WOU attendance.

How amount will be allocated: Faculty in the Politics, Policy and Administration Department will review all applications submitted by the deadline and will select an award recipient by the end of each spring quarter. The award of $1,000 will be disbursed to the scholarship winner at the beginning of the subsequent fall term.

Each year the Politics, Policy, and Administration department selects students who we feel exhibit tenacity, interest in the field and exceptional performance in our classrooms to receive the awards of Outstanding Student in Political Science, Outstanding Student in Public Policy and Administration, and an occasional award for a student who shines in specific categories.
