Overview

Units in the Division of Student Affairs may submit requests and supporting documents for allocation of one-time indirect cost recovery funds to support a project in their area. Submissions are reviewed and approved by the Vice President for Student Affairs. Please read the following details prior to submitting an application.

Appropriate Use of Funds

Requests must align with the and support the Division of Student Affairs mission. Specifically, “all funds from recovered indirect costs will be used for visible activities that support, promote, and/or grow the university’s capacity for research, grant-funded and sponsored project activities.†Examples include professional development, conference registration and travel, research services and supplies, student employee wages, FTE for writing grants, and publication costs, among others. Requests should clearly indicate how these funds will be used, and how they support both the university and division. All fund usage is subject to WOU policies.

Eligibility

Any unit or employee within the Division of Student Affairs may submit an application. Priority will be given to first-time applicants.

Funding Level

In order to support a variety of projects within the Division, approved applications generally will be made in amounts of $1,000 or less. Funds are a one-time award and contingent upon funding availability. The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs will process and assist in tracking expenditures. Funds must be expended within the fiscal year they were awarded, unless an exception has been requested and approved by the Vice President for Student Affairs. Transfer out of funds (e.g., to a units’ index) or roll-over of funds is not permissible.

Application Materials

Requests must be completed within the Student Affairs Indirect Cost Recovery Funds Application (application below). Applications must include a budget (one-page maximum) and any other supporting documentation (all files should be in PDF format). All application fields must be completed.
